Your doctor will tell you the amount of progesterone cream you should be applying each day, and may provide specific application instructions. These guidelines are not meant to replace the instructions your doctor gives you. However, you may find them useful in the cases where your doctor has not been specific.

It is important to be as accurate as possible when applying natural progesterone. We provide a small plastic scooper which gives 1g per scoop.

Guidelines

Make sure the area you are going to apply the cream is washed, and free of makeup or perfumes.

The cream is most easily absorbed if rubbed in to relatively thin skin. The areas recommended are inner arms and wrists, neck and upper chest, abdomen, inner thighs.

Try to spread the cream over as large an area of skin as possible.

Leave the cream to absorb for as long as practical.

Rotate the location you apply the cream. For example:

  • Day 1, morning: Underside of left upper-arm
  • Day 1, evening: Left wrist
  • Day 2, morning: Inner thigh
  • Day 2, evening: Underside of right upper-arm
  • Day 3, morning: Right wrist
  • Day 3, evening: Back of the neck

Hi Julie -

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

You need a prescription because Natural Progesterone Cream is classified as a prescription-only (S4) drug in Australia. But apart from that, since we are fine tuning your hormones here, it's probably good sense to get your doctor involved anyway. They can monitor your hormone levels and adjust the dose accordingly.

I think you may have made a mistake when you said "1600mls progesterone to 125ml" - that would be a 99% cream. Most of the creams on the market are below 10%. I might have to get you to rephrase exactly what you are asking here.

As for "wild yam" creams, I haven't said that there is anything wrong with creams that contain natural progesterone derived from the wild yam. Ours (and most of the natural progesterone creams available in Australia, I believe) uses natural progesterone which has been derived from soya beans. It's a more efficient process, but the resulting product (natural progesterone powder) is chemically identical.

If you are thinking of buying a cream which calls itself a "wild yam" cream, I suggest making sure that it contains natural progesterone. The reason being, if the cream only contains wild yam compound, your body can't actually convert this into natural progesterone. I believe wild yam creams (ie that contain no natural progesterone) are available without a prescription in Australia.
